Everyone knows graphite as pencil lead.
Fewer know it conducts.
That's the studio in one word:
your business is already sending signal.
Orders, briefs, bookings, questions.
I build the path it runs through.

Graphite conducts. Ideas go in, working systems come out. I'm Cam Rickerby, and I build the path between.

//003 · How it started
It started as web work. Then every project opened a back door: "while you're in there, the spreadsheet behind this page is duct tape." The sites were fine. The systems behind them were the real job. In 2020 I stopped calling it scope creep and started calling it the work.

Independent since 2020. Still picky about the work.
Handoffs between brief and ship. I carry the whole thing.

Quit the safety net. Freelance web work, first retainers, and a habit of asking what runs behind the page.
//006 · Case studies

Replaced doc sprawl with a deployed Next.js + Supabase pipeline in MET’s Vercel.

Identity, editorial site, and a CMS the GP actually opens.

Brand system, marketing site, and the design tokens engineering builds against.

Three-zone register: cinematic dark hero, bone editorial mid-pages, ember-only palette.

[*the no list]
A conductor works because of what it refuses to pass. The pickiness is not a mood. It is the spec.
If strategy, design, and build split across three vendors, the seams become the product. I carry the whole thing or I pass.
You own the stack at the end: repo, infra, keys. If you cannot run it without me, I have not finished.
The deliverable is the system, deployed in your infrastructure and doing its job. A deck about the system does not count.
If the boring tool holds, it stays. New tech earns its slot by surviving load, not by being new.
6 years
Six years of systems that are still running. Yours could be next on the bench.
